It’s the beginning of a new semester and I have to confess, it’s turning out to be the biggest semester UQPMS has ever seen!
First thing’s first – many apologies for our incessant IT issues. We can promise you that this’ll be resolved in the near future. If you have any queries whatsoever, please contact us through email or Facebook.
Now to more enjoyable matters – I’ll outline what we’ve got in store for this semester. To kick things off, this Friday is our second Red Room Night, perfect for any member to chill with friends over drinks and pizza. We have also released our first ever General Course Guide for non-science elective courses – please use it to the fullest (it’s password protected but our Academic VP will post the details soon don’t worry!). The following weekend is our exclusive workshops run by our Gold Sponsor GAMSAT Strategies. We’re very excited about this new initiative in increasing accessibility to GAMSAT resources and we hope you benefit as much as possible. At the end of August, we’ll be having our annual sports competition against the Griffith Med-Sci cohort. If you love to run around and eat pizza, this is the event for you!
Come September and ‘Premedical Sprinters’ will be running for charity at Bridge to Brisbane. And yes, we’d love to have you join our team! The rest of September will also see a ‘Life of a Med student’ seminar, jointly organised by the UQ Medical Society as well as a Midsemester Party with the Psychology Students’ Association. There are also whispers of a WHO convention during the break but we’ll let you know soon enough…
When you return for the last few weeks of university for 2014, you have the Premedical Ball to look forward to. Mark October 17th in your calendars because this will be a night to remember! Held at Rydges Hotel’s Rooftop Venue, prepare to be spellbound as you witness the classiest ball UQPMS has ever held. We can’t tell you much more than that so stay tuned for more updates, as well as ticket sales.
Last but not least, the Annual General Meeting will be held sometime after. It’ll be a chance for you to hear about the society straight from the executive and also the chance to run for executive positions for 2015. We’re on the look out for competent, reliable and diligent execs!
And that’s it guys. It’ll be a blast and we hope to see as many of you at our events for the rest of the year. If you haven’t turned up to an event yet, I’d be more than happy to have a chat with you as to why you should come to an event – or save yourself the bother and come anyway!
Remember, more detailed information can always be found at our Facebook page! If you have any queries about our General Course Guide, our events and membership among other things, feel free to message us any time.
See you at our next event!
